This is the start of our journey so I have decided to make this blog for updates of all of the emotions and excitement that will happen along the way! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Thanks to everyone for all of the congrats.! We are so excited and are thankful to have great family, friends and community that are wanting to help us! No one will ever understand how much it means to us! If it's your first time visiting our blog, start at the bottom and work your way up, or on the right hand side you can look by date.

"Do you want my autograph now..or later??"

After a very long work week it was great to get some much needed things done. Friday night after work Mom, Casey and I went to the mall to get me some more maternity clothes and dresses for my upcoming showers. As I was in the dressing room I looked down and noticed I had no ankles. I said to mom "I have kankles and i'm only at 12 weeks!!!" After working all day it wasn't very smart to make a late night trip to the mall. After the mall we headed to Olive Garden and boyyy was it good! I started to pass out the appetizer to mom and casey, just trying to be polite. Not realizing I kept loading up the bread chips with artichoke dip and giving them about 5 a piece, Casey said "Dude, I'm not pregnant too..you are trying to feed me wayyy to much". All I could do was laugh at her because I was thinking that they were just as hungry as I was. hahaha. When I got home later that night it was wonderful to put my feet up and not move the rest of the night. During work on saturday I tired my best to use the cutting stool as much as possible and having the other girls shampoo for me. Thank God I have some good girls working at the salon that are very helpful. Saturday night I did absolutely nothing but eat, relax and watched a movie with Justin which was exactly what I needed!

Our 13 week doctors appointment was yesterday, and we were so excited to go see the babies. Those 4 weeks felt like a yearrr. Justin's mother, Karen got to go with us and she was so excited to see her little grand babies all moving around in there. The heartbeats of all 4 were very strong and in the range they need to be in. The doctor said I was doing great too but I need to defiantly take it easy on the weekends and take as many breaks as I can during the day at work. They are measuring right on time and were moving soo much while they were trying to take their photos. We are starting to think that baby A and B are boys because they are moving around like crazy in there, so wild that it took like 5 minutes a piece to even hear the heartbeats. I am going to add some photos of the size and what they look like in there.

Isn't this soo cool! Can't believe theres 4 of them inside my belly! I can not wait until I get to feel them kicking and moving in there! Here are the US photos.

  4. Thats a good book to read. We had gotten the 2nd Edition and I read most of it myself and passed on the info to my wife. There was a pretty good guide on what you should be eating and what to avoid. I didn't realize you had 2 sacks with twins in each. I've heard that those pregnancies have a higher risk then if each had their on sack, so be sure to extra cautious no heavy lifting, relax and make sure you drink lots of fluids. The book also had good info on morning sickness and how to avoid it. I would always wake of the wife around 2-3am and make her eat a snack so she would avoid it.

Expect to be on bed rest at around 20 weeks in the hospital. If you happen to any any cause or concern leading up to 20 weeks, be sure to get checked out immediately. My wife called me up when she was 19 1/2 weeks saying she had a sharp pain so I rushed home. Got home and she said she was fine, but I took her in to get checked out. Luckily I didn't hesitate, because she was on bed rest for the next 9 weeks and gave birth to 4 healthy babies. It wouldn't have turned out good if hadn't made that trip to the hospital that night.

All six of us are pulling for all six of you, and hoping everything turns out. Its totally going to be a miracle have a set of natural quads. That just doesn't happen to often.

  5. I am so excited for you and will enjoy reading your blog. I, too, am the mom of mono-di multiples... but only 1 set!!! Our pregnancy had many complications and I am praying that you have a worry free 20 more weeks or so. I am so glad you are being seen each week or so. Ultrasounds and careful monitoring of multiples sharing a placenta is so important.
    Good luck!

  6. How exciting. Saw you interview and just wanted to say how cute you both are & seem to be very calm about it all.
You are at the same point in your pregnancy that my daughter-in-law is. She is only having one to go along with Aidson (14 months). Hope you don't mind if I become a blog stalker to keep up with you.
I follow a blog of a family that has quads, they are 3 now. Here is their blog: http://thelifeofsuz.blogspot.com/
Maybe you can benefit from her experiences.

I will keep your family in my prayers.

  7. Hi there! I'm a triplet mom and saw your story on CNN. I'm so happy for you! Our three boys are 3 now (born 9/15/21007, 33 weeks) and just as busy as can be; we've had another girl (16 months) and just found out we have another on the way. Our blog (including pics of birth to up to about a year ago) is http://themadeiratriplets.blogspot.com/--I just can never find the time to update it!

Higher-order multiples are wonderful, and they definitely keep you on your toes. They've changed my life so much--I'm a law professor, and my research has gradually shifted to family law and multiples (incluidng fertility treatment).

There's also a very helpful website that was so helpful to me...triplet connection. About 15 weeks in, I became tremendously sick with some virus and two weeks later two of the babies began sporting "echogenic" (bright white) bowels and fluid around their hearts. This cleared up spontaneously when I was 27 weeks along. But we underwent tons of tests and suffered from a great deal of emotional distress and worry until I went on triplet connection and asked for information and heard from many other parents that had had similar experiences but whose children were born perfectly healthy--as ours later were.

I think I've learned at least two huge lessons along the way. First, listen to your body--if you believe that you feel differently, or that something is wrong, then it probably is. Don't worry at all about being silly--at 24 weeks, I had been told that I would carry to 35 weeks without a problem. But later that same week, I felt different and went in to my local labor & delivery unit to find that I was almost on the point of delivery! EEK! I lasted another 11 weeks. Bedrest :( BOO but great in the end!

Another lesson learned is that the attention is just beginning. The most frequent comment we get is "Are those triplets?" and my favorite is "Did you use fertilizer" (yeah, Scott's Turf Builder all the way!). Attention is less frequent as they get older, thank goodness!!

Good luck...I hope to keep following your blog!

  11. Congratulations on your 4 little blessings. I live in Minnesota, and there was a local mom here who had quads last June and blogged about it on our local Momslikeme.com, it might be something you might wanna check out.

Here is a link to the direct page: http://twincities.momslikeme.com/members/groupabout.aspx?g=1792233

I am a mother of a 15 month old girl and having just one child was such a huge change for me, so I cannot imagine what your future will bring, but I am sure it will be full of joy. One thing I would recommend you do, write down EVERYTHING you buy for your babies and how much you spent, it is really important to check your budget because it is very easy to get carried away when planning for a child or children.

Also, While you are still pregnant, and especially while you are on bed rest, start entering online giveaways. There are literally hundreds of online giveaways for various baby products and I have saved so much money by winning things I have needed. You can go to a webpage like http://www.prizey.net/ to find giveaways.

Good Luck with everything! I look forward to following your pregnancy. :)

  13. I have a natural set of boy/girl twins and they were a surprise pregnancy which turned into two surprises! They are our 4th and 5th children so they certainly add to the excitement! Big families are great! I had 10 weeks of bedrest with 6 days in the hospital. They were born at 36 wks and 2 days. You can read a little bit about them and my pregnancy that Started in April 09 at www.deerparknelsonacres.blogspot.com

I would like to encourage you to give them as much breastmilk as possible. I know there are 4 but in the beginning they take in so little that it is truly the best thing you can do for them. I was able to nurse my twins for 12 months. So pump and mix it with formula if you have to but I do encourage you to give them as much as you can.

Congrats on the quads I pray that God gives you guidance and support throughout this great blessing. Remember He chose you for this great blessing for a reason so you know he has faith in you and you both will succeed in being the best parents you can be!

  16. Thank you so much everyone for all the prayers! We truly are blessed with our miracle! I hope for everyone who follows us know that we really do appreciate all of the support. These are our first children and they were given to us naturally by the grace of God! We are not trying to brag about our miracle and we do not feel like we are above and beyond anyone else because this has happened. We are taking this a day at a time and know that God has given this blessing to us because he knows we can handle it. Yes, we have our worries but because of everyone's support and our faith in God these miracles will all arrive and it will be a blessing like no other.

  19. I found your blog through another friend, and at first couldn't believe that quadruplets could happen naturally! My second thought is you are so lucky! I'm 14 weeks along with our second baby, and I've always wanted multiples, but looks like that's not happening. SO congratulations! Obviously it will be a lot of work, but it's so exciting and I'm glad you have so much help:)

  20. One other thing I forgot to post, but my husband reminded me...when we were about 10-12 weeks pregnant with the triplets, I took out a couple of AFLAC policies (yes, the duck insurance). I couldn't get coverage for regular pregnancy expenses (the usual birth, 2 days in the hospital or whatever) but ALL time in the NICU for the babies was covered, and any pregnancy complications were covered for myself. This proved to be so valuable, as I went on bedrest at 24 weeks and spent a total of 4 weeks in the hospital and the boys were in for 3 weeks. You more than likely will face something similar in your own pregnancy with bedrest and NICU time. We got almost $20K from AFLAC and literally spent about $110/month on the 3 policies. I think we got the hospitalization policy, and perhaps 1 or 2 others (I seem to remember a long-term something or other policy?). I can't remember anymore. Any AFLAC rep could tell you. And we got it on our own, since neither of our workplaces carried AFLAC. The rep will tell you that your "pregnancy" won't be covered--but complications will. And even if the policies just cover your babies, it's still an amazing thing to have. We were in MA at the time. It was frankly a godsend, and I'm glad that other triplet moms had told me about it. I felt guilty cancelling the policies afterwards, but thankfully we've never needed them again! Again, I got the idea from others on Triplet Connection...if you go to the site and search for AFLAC you'll find a ton of similar stories. Best of luck!

  21. My friend Sara told me about you. How exciting for you and your hubby. I'm a mom to all boy quadruplets, too. (But mine are now 9 years old)
We are getting ready to move to South Carolina from here in the Pacific Northwest. So, I will be just a state away if you need anything. I just want you to know there is now one more person you can call and talk to.
I remember just how lonely I felt because I didn't know anyone else who was having "four" babies. Back in 2001, not too many HOM moms were online.
    I don't really blog much, but I do have a facebook page. It's www.facebook.com/quadmommy.
Add me to your friends list. I'm excited to see your progress. You can do it!!
